When Pottery is Fine Art. This magnificent piece of fine art pottery by William Moorcroft has been in my possession for a decade. I was fortunate to attend an auction that was poorly attended and won this exquisite piece for the reserve price. I would be interested in downsizing this piece now. At the time I purchased it I had it valued at $1,800. I have seen vintage Moorcroft vases this size listed as buy it nows from $3,800. Most of the cheaper ones are only 5 1/2 inches high...I see few this tall. Remember this is a RARE large vase of the Coral Hibiscus design. I am considering genuine offers. Freight can be arranged though Pack and Send Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. All pack and freight costs paid by the purchaser. WALTER MOORCROFT CORAL HIBISCUS VASE This vase is decorated with Walter Moorcroft's Coral Hibiscus design 1968 in coral colourway on an olive green ground. It features three different Hibiscus flowers. This piece dates from the late 1960s or early 1970s. It has its original Moorcroft Royal Warrant paper label on the base. The design is very detailed with a vast covering of tube lined decoration. A very substantial piece at approximately 8 1/4" in height. In lovely condition with no chips, cracks or restoration There is a little light natural crazing to the glaze consistent with its age. C1953- 1978 Moorcroft Royal Warrant Paper label transferred to Walter Moorcroft in 1946 and stating 'BY APPOINTMENT TO THE LATE QUEEN MARY'. The Royal warrant expired in 1978 on the anniversary of Queen Mary's death. Offers from $999.00 (Vase only packing and freight at cost is buyer's expense) considered. Contact Kathy Shell Note, $999.00 is below what I paid for this vase and below the valuation I received at the time. Vases of this size and era by one of the original Moorcroft potters, are extremely difficult to find. I am in no rush to sell, I would prefer this to go to someone who will love it as I did than to a reseller or agent. I purchased this out of appreciation for the work of the Moorcroft potters and this design with the beautiful coral and green remains my favorite. Art lovers offered virtual galleries Art lovers will be able to stroll through some of the world's most famous galleries at the click of a mouse after Google put the venues online using Street View technology. In a collaboration with 17 leading galleries in nine countries, the US internet giant took equipment from the cars it used to map cities and recorded the galleries so they can now be enjoyed by anyone with web access. The Museum of Modern Art in New York, London's National Gallery and the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid are three of the galleries that art aficionados will be able to explore by logging on to www.googleartproject.com. Art by Vincent van Gogh, James McNeill Whistler and Sandro Botticelli are among more than 1,000 works that have been photographed and "hung" in the virtual galleries. In all, visitors will be able to look around more than 350 gallery rooms containing work by more than 450 artists. While many big galleries have already put their work online, Google claims its 'Art Project' takes the experience to a new level. As well as the Street View-style tours, the site offers an application to build up a virtual private art collection, and super high-resolution pictures which allow enthusiasts to look at works in minute detail. The project represents "a major step forward in how a lot of people are going to interact with these beautiful treasures," said Nelson Mattos, vice-president of engineering at Google. "We hope it will inspire ever more people, wherever they live, to access and explore art," he said. The project organisers also played down concerns that putting artworks online would slash the number of visitors to the museums, and instead said they expected the site to boost attendance. "In our experience, people - once they get a glimpse - want to see the real thing," said Nicholas Serota, director of the Tate Britain. Thank you to my good friend Paulene for supplying the image for this fantastic painting subject. I thought of it today especially because I will be spending a lot of my time painting and writing beside the seaside in 2011. I am packing the pastels, watercolours, oils, acrylics and the writing gear for what will be a full on, busy creative tour of the south and west of Australia this year. The Daly Waters Pub is a must to stop off at and enjoy the Barra and Beef dinner and entertainment on your journey up though the center towards Darwin. Last time we stayed an underpowered caravan site was $6. for the night and there were clean shower rooms if you did not mind being watched by many resident green frogs, all part of the fun of the top end. The entertainment at Daly Waters is hilarious Aussie outback humour, something to be experiences at least once in your life. People usually only stay overnight, in fact the local joke is if you stay for a week they appoint you the town mayor as you would be the longest staying resident. This "Daly Waters Pub" Northern Territory, postcard, features an image from the original acrylic painting by Kathy Shell. This was painted when Kathy Shell was on painting and exhibition tour in the top end of Australia. When I first discovered the old Buninyong dairy on private land in Buninyong and asked permission to paint it the owners agreed but asked me to wait until the gardener cleaned it up. Of course I protested, part of the charm was the tangled mess around the building so they agreed to allow me to paint it just as I found it. This "Buninyong Dairy" postcard features an image from the original watercolour by Kathy Shell or the original dairy in Buninyong, Victoria's oldest inland town. This was painted when Kathy Shell was the artist in residence and owner of the multi award winning Buninyong Gallery. It was a dream come true for an artist and every year for the duration I owned the gallery (11 years) I was given a similar Clydesdale painting opportunity, right on my doorstep. I made the most of every moment the beautiful Clydesdales were there and painted many originals in varied mediums, oils, watercolours and pastels. They were fascinated that we do not appear on the GPS. I love this. It makes our summer retreat our little reclusive when we want peace and quiet, summer rural home on a street that does not appear on any map. I got into the back of their car and directed them up to the lake then around several corners keeping the rural setting always on the left hand side of the car until we were facing in the reverse direction we had begun with the row of poplar trees and the oat field on the left and my little home studio retreat with its tiny cottage garden on the right. "Watch out for the potholes and speed humps" I had bee saying. Yes we are definitely in mud map country and I love it here. The sale we made had been pre-arranged; it was this beautiful ceramic wall plaque by M Charnley, that I had originally purchased for my own private home collection, a collection I am now downsizing due to our touring lifestyle.
